TI's new humidity sensor offers ultra-high reliability and built-in anti-pollution protection to withstand harsh operating conditions
With the industry's ultra-high precision and ultra-low power humidity sensors, engineers can improve system efficiency and extend the life of industrial and automotive systems
June 29, 2021 / PRnewswire / -- Texas Instruments (TI) (NASDAQ: TXN) today introduced a new family of advanced humidity sensors that not only provide ultra-high reliability and accuracy and ultra-low power consumption in the industry, but also provide built-in protection through inductive elements. With the HDC3020 and HDC3020-Q1, engineers will be able to create more reliable industrial and automotive systems that are resistant to potential damage from moisture and ready to respond to changing humidity conditions as needed. For more information, see www.ti.com/hdc3020-pr and www.ti.com/hdc3020-q1-pr.
Moisture can affect system performance and product life in applications such as automotive, electrical and medical equipment. Whether to extend the life of the product during transportation and storage, to prevent the car camera fog, or the control of air flow rate and quality of the building, this requires a more reliable and safer, more comfortable environment, so more and more engineers will be in the relevant system of relative humidity (RH) sensor is used to measure the environmental humidity.
Compared to existing relative humidity sensors, the HDC3020 and HDC3020-Q1 measure relative humidity with higher accuracy and less long-term error, maintaining data integrity under a variety of stress conditions, and being the first in the industry to offer integrated correction capabilities to cope with accuracy drift caused by natural aging, environmental stress or contamination.
System reliability is improved by enhanced induction elements
The HDC3020 and HDC3020-Q1 have lower drift than their peers in extreme conditions, with annual relative humidity accuracy drift of less than 0.21% and temperature and humidity stress relative humidity drift of less than 5% (tested at up to 85% relative humidity and 85°C). This stable and durable accuracy extends system life without the need for frequent sensor replacement or recalibration.
Sensors also provide a second line of defense when exposed to stress or contaminants: use integrated drift correction technology that eliminates even the tiny precision drift of the sensor's initial phase. Cryogenic drift is particularly important in long-life applications because it can achieve better performance and higher reliability over time.
Improve system efficiency through industry high precision
Both the HDC3020 and HDC3020-Q1 offer higher accuracy (validated by nIST procedures) over the entire supply voltage range of 1.62V to 5.5V and over an ultra-wide temperature and humidity range of ±1.5% relative humidity. This high precision allows for more precise system control, ensuring that the system operates only when necessary, thereby increasing efficiency.
In addition, the HDC3020 and HDC3020-Q1 are available in a variety of pin-on-pin compatible package covers, such as detachable polyimide tape covers and IP67 class fixed filter covers. These covers provide inlet dust and moisture protection for the device during assembly and system operation, and help the sensor maintain accuracy in contaminated environments.
Extend the life of battery-powered systems with the industry's ultra-low-power humidity sensors
The HDC3020 and HDC3020-Q1 provide ultra-low power consumption in the Na amp range from 1.62V to 5.5V, enabling low power operation in active operating and sleep modes. Automatic measurement model support in the rest of the system during sleep and humidity sensor to capture data on a regular basis so as to further maintain system battery life, suitable for cold chain data recorder, wireless connection environmental sensors (such as air quality monitor, smart home or building in the wireless sensor node) or IP network camera application.
